Maori cup - inspired by the 'Maori wave' manufactured by Royal Doulton (1906 to 1923. Maori were the first settlers to New thought to be around the 13th century. The blue and white cup I designed myself to represent the Dutch explorer Abel Tasman, the first European to discover New Zealand in 1642. Yellow/pink cup - signifies the British explorer James Cook, the first European to outline the coast of New Zealand (late century) and may also be the cup he drank from on his voyages. Butterflies can symbolise hope, beginnings and happiness.
