Glass Art - Native Flora: Kowhai

The next installment in our art glass native flora range have arrived. These miniature objets d'art represent our bright, sunny kowhai flowers from Aotearoa.  Each of these little flowers has been crafted to resemble realistic kowhai; long ivory stamens with pollen at their tips emerge from the bottom of detailed, flowing petals in varying shades of deep and golden yellows.  The flowers are finished with the addition of olive and sage green caps.

Under the high heat of a specialised torch, glass has been melted and sculpted into flowers and leaves, through the process of lampwork.  Complex techniques have been used to form realistic forms.  Every piece has been made by Selma in her studio.

Flowers measure around approximately 28 to 30mm long and copper stems/ wires and are approximately 9cm long.
